Vertical Slots
White Box Four is one of a series of works in landscape format contained in a glossy white box. Each of these pieces is lit by LED strips, powered by a lithium polymer battery. In order to preserve battery life the lights are operated by a sensor that only turns on when somebody stands in front of it.
This is an early White Box and although it uses the same enclosure as later ones it has a different logic. Here the intention is to create a box for looking into rather than looking at. The wider slot on the left hand end is a window which, with the help of a mirror or two, gives a deep interior view.
This Box has now found a home and is currently residing in Finsbury Park, London.
