White Box Six is one of a series of works in landscape format contained in a glossy white box. Each of these pieces is lit by LED strips, powered by a lithium polymer battery. In order to preserve battery life the lights are operated by a sensor that only turns on when somebody stands in front of it.
The circular elements look like spirals but in fact each separate layer contains only circles. The circles get smaller as you go back into the work and each one is lined up with the edge of the circle in the previous layer. But the point of attachment is rotated.
I was simply playing with circles within circles and the spiral effect was an interesting outcome. The layers are orange and pink successively which gives a nice zingy contrast.
