The Beehive
White Box Ten is one of a series of works in landscape format contained in a glossy white box. Each of these pieces is lit by LED strips, powered by a lithium polymer battery. In order to preserve battery life the lights are operated by a sensor that only turns on when somebody stands in front of it.
This particular box is constructed from yellow and orange layers set against a pale blue background. I think of it as a beehive for rigidly geometrical bees.
Any bees seeking a ready made home will have to fly to Copenhagen if they wish to take up residence. My eldest son asked me to send him a light box for his birthday and this is the one he chose.
